Local Attractions

The farm contains activities that will make any stay enjoyable. The sheep and cattle are all friendly.
A farm and bush walk through beautiful farm land goes into regenerating bush to an impressive waterfall  and glow worms. This walk is only available to guests actually staying at the park..

The local area has many activities that can be reached within 15 minutes including: Sea Kayaking: from Marlborough Sounds Adventure Company operating out of Picton or from several other companies operating out of Picton or Havelock.

Mountain Biking: bring your own bike or hire from Marlborough Sounds Adventure Company. The Queen Charlotte Track, the Link Pathway or the scenic local roads. Smiths Farm can arrange mountain bike hire for you (we no longer keep our own mountain bikes).

Mini Golf: Aaron and Nat have recently built an awesome mini golf circuit which will provide affordable fun for all the family when you are staying at the park.

Marlborough Sounds Adventure Company will tailor make a package to suit your abilities and requirements whether they be guided or freedom hire.

Boat Trips: For fishing, diving, observing the green lip mussel farming process, garden tours, doing the mail boat run or just sightseeing, these are available from nearby Picton or Havelock.

Tramping: The start of the Queen Charlotte Track is only 4km away. With options for all fitness levels ranging from five day tramps to easy day walks, Chris and Barbara can help you choose an option to suit. We would also encourage you to explore some of the newly opened sections of the Link Pathway. The Waikakaho Track, also 4km away, has been recently redeveloped and follows the old goldminers trail.

Restaurants:

  1. Mill's Bay Mussels
  2. The Queen Charlotte Tavern, 2km away has a restaurant and bar.
  3. The Captain's Daughter, The Slip Inn and the Mussel Pot restaurant, specialising in delicious green lip mussel meals are just 15 minutes drive away in Havelock.
  4. For those wanting a little extra dining adventure, drive to Te Mahia, catch the water taxi to Raetihi Lodge.

Dairy/ Service Station: This is situated 2km away and holds most daily requirements. It is the only local service station selling petrol/diesel.

Within an hours travel are wine tours and dolphin watching. Within three hours are whale watching at Kaikoura or skiing at the Rainbow skiifield. The park is 30 minutes from Picton, 75 minutes from Nelson and 50 minutes from Blenheim.
